Hello Louisiana! It's Jamie Lombardino and as of Saturday January 7th 2012, I am officially Your Miss Louisiana Jazzland 2012! I am honored and ecstatic to represent the home of Jazz Music and all of the amazing people who reside here. After being crowned on Saturday night I am ready to hit the ground running as a new representative of Louisiana. Having this title will allow me the opportunity to compete in June 2012 for the title of Miss Louisiana. I have created this blog for all of my supporters to follow me in my preparations for the Miss Louisiana Crown. Now...Who is Jamie Lombardino you ask?
Personal Life: Although I won my title in Shreveport, Louisiana; I am from way down South of the big boot. I grew up and attended school in Slidell, which is where my family still resides. I am currently attending school at Southeastern Louisiana University as a Junior Mass Communications Major with a concentration in Electronic Media. There, I am a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and the Italian club. (YEP! That's right I'm Italian!) At Southeastern I have also been involved with the Theatre Honorarium and their performances. I have been accepted in to the Louisiana Culinary Institute in Baton Rouge and plan to attend after obtaining my degree at Southeastern. I wouldn't be a true Italian if I couldn't cook! So you bet I can break it down in the kitchen! Especially when it comes to baking. So you can imagine what I love to do in my free time!
Pageant Life: I am a vocalist, and will sing anything from Broadway to Classical! Singing is one of my favorite things to do and I never stop! (Just ask the girls I work with.) My platform is one of my favorite things to talk about. The name of my blog is "Baking A Difference for Children's Miracle Network". In 2011, I officially adopted this as my platform after volunteering to bake for charity events and then hosting bake-sales of my own in order to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network which is Miss America's official platform. In 2010 I became extremely involved with Children's Hospital, raising over $2,000. Raising these funds for this special cause would have never been possible without the support of family and friends. My goal for 2012 is to exceed that amount. I have numerous ideas and fundraisers in the works, many of which are bake-sales that I will coordinate at my university and surrounding communities. My focus with Baking A Difference is intended to not only raise funds but to also EDUCATE the general public about Children's Miracle Network. My motto is: that if you associate food with learning a new idea-people are more inclined to listen! Especially, when it is a sweet treat like a brownie or a cupcake!
I look forward to updating this blog throughout my journey to the Miss Louisiana Crown. Stay Tuned - there are plenty of pictures and news to come! Thank you all again for your support and encouragement I have already received! I know my reign as Miss Louisiana Jazzland 2012 will be very special.

Much Love and Jazz-
